Nathanael Greene birthday celebration scheduled at Greene County Historic Courthouse rotunda

Residents and members of the media are invited to attend a special Nathanael Greene 277th birthday ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 7 in the Greene County Historic Courthouse rotunda.

In addition to a special presentation by local members of the Ozarks Mountain Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution, the Greene County Commission will also present a special proclamation.

While our County is named after the major general from American Revolutionary War, Greene County is not the only place to carry his name. There are more than a dozen counties throughout the United States that carry the name of the man known as one of George Washington’s most gifted and dependable officers.

“This celebration is just one small way to recognize the rich history of this area and remember our roots,” said Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon. “I can’t think of a better place to have such an event than the rotunda of the historic courthouse.”
