Welcome to the official page of the City of Battlefield Planning and Zoning Commission. As mandated by the City of Battlefield Authority, the Commission is entrusted with specific powers and duties to facilitate the growth, development, and redevelopment of our city.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct Studies and Recommend Plans

• Conduct in-depth studies to assess and recommend plans, goals, and objectives related to the growth and development of the City.

• Present findings and recommendations to the Board of Aldermen for consideration.

Prepare and Recommend Policies, Ordinances, and Administrative Procedures

• Develop and propose policies, ordinances, and administrative procedures to ensure coordinated and efficient implementation of City plans.

• Collaborate with the Board of Aldermen to establish a comprehensive approach to City development.

Regulate Land Development

• Formulate regulations and requirements for the coordinated development of land within the City.

• Recommendations may include coordination of streets, provision of open spaces, population distribution, and utility facility installations in accordance with Chapter 89, RSMo.

Hearing and Recommendations on Zoning Matters

• Hold public hearings on rezoning applications, conditional use permits, and amendments to the Zoning Map.

• Provide recommendations to the Board of Aldermen regarding the approval or disapproval of these applications and amendments.

Review and Recommend Zoning Regulations

• Conduct studies, hold public hearings, and make recommendations to the Board of Aldermen on modifications and amendments to zoning regulations.

Fulfill Additional Requests from the Board of Aldermen

• Undertake any additional work or activity as requested by the Board of Aldermen in accordance with Chapter 89, RSMo.

Reports to Board of Aldermen

• The Planning and Zoning Commission is committed to transparency and accountability. Regular reports, including investigations, transactions, and recommendations, are submitted to the Board of Aldermen. These reports ensure that the community is informed about the Commission's activities and its fulfillment of prescribed responsibilities and authority.

The Planning & Zoning Board meets every 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall. The public is welcome to attend. Anyone wishing to speak during the meeting, must be signed up to speak by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
