SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Greene County Medical Examiner Office has attained accreditation from The National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), a prestigious recognition that underscores its commitment to excellence in forensic pathology and death investigation.
Accreditation by NAME, received on July 6th, 2024, signifies that the Greene County Medical Examiner Office provides a supportive environment for medical examiners to conduct their professional duties effectively. This endorsement also assures the community of Greene County that the office operates with high standards, ensuring quality medicolegal investigations.
Greene County now joins an exclusive group as one of only two Medical Examiner Offices in the State of Missouri to achieve this accreditation.
Deiter Duff, MD, who assumed the role of Greene County Medical Examiner in December 2019, expressed pride in the achievement, remarking, "I am proud of our staff of full-time and part-time Forensic Investigators, Forensic Technician, and Administrative Coordinator. This is a dedicated group that works hard to serve the citizens of Greene County. Our staff has worked as a team over the past several years to develop policies and procedures to become NAME accredited. The effort to achieve accreditation began years prior to my employment here when Greene County committed to building a modern freestanding medical examiner’s office and morgue designed from the ground up with features to allow for eventual NAME accreditation. We are thankful that Greene County has provided support for our office over the years and continues to do so.”
The path to accreditation has involved significant leadership, with the diligent efforts and dedication of our staff demonstrating their commitment to meeting and surpassing the rigorous standards established by NAME.
"We are grateful for the quality leadership and service that Dr. Duff provides as Medical Examiner, and we salute this latest achievement. In each area, Greene County works to lead the way so citizens can have confidence and trust in local government," commented Bob Dixon, Presiding Commissioner of Greene County.
